FAQs

When are the events held?

We currently hold regular swim nights usually twice a month. If there is a 5th Saturday, an extra swimming night will sometimes take place, venue dependent. Please take a look at our Calendar for more information on upcoming events.

What time do I need to be there?

The Saturday swim nights usually start at 7 pm through to 10 pm, with a break at 9pm for refreshments. On Sundays we start at 4:40 pm until 7:30 pm with a break for refreshments at 6:30 pm. Other events will be decided as they are announced.

What is the cost of the events?

Swim nights are $15/pp for non-members, and $10/pp for members. Donations are always welcome to assist in the running of the events.

Membership currently costs $50/year, with a $25 joining fee for new members.

What do I need to bring with me?

You will need a towel, both to dry yourself off and to sit on (generally not a good idea to sit your bare bottom on a publicly used couch)! Something edible to share for supper in a non-breakable container (drinks provided). Money for the entry fee, and, if you’re feeling it, we always love a good smile.

Who can attend the events?

Our regular swim nights are open to:

  • Single women (18+)
  • Mixed-Gender couples (friends, relatives, spouses)
  • Families with children under 18 years of age

Single males are not welcome to the nights or eligible for membership, except at pre-determined Community Events, and in special circumstances. This is not to discriminate, but to keep a reasonable gender balance in the club.

Some events other than the regular swim nights are open to anyone, and normal attendance criteria does not apply. These are decided on a case-by-case basis, depending on the event type/location.

Our AGMs are open ONLY to members.

What are these ‘special circumstances’ for single males?

If a mixed couple joins, and then proceeds to split or fall apart, both parties (irregardless of gender) are invited to join as single members. One will be asked to complete a new membership application, and both members will have to pay the $50/year membership fee.

Children under 18 are automatically included on their parents membership, but after their 18th birthday, they will be required to take out their own membership as singles and pay the membership fees as required.

We have also been known in the past to admit INF passport holders traveling interstate or overseas without their partners. It doesn’t happen often, but if you think your circumstances warrant it, please feel free to ask.

I am under 18 years old? Can I attend?

Children under the age of 18 are welcome at the swim nights and other events ONLY IF they are accompanied by their parent/guardian, and are not charged an admission fee.

How do I become a member?

To become a member of Solar West, we like to get to know you first. A minimum of 3 swim nights is required for application, after which a membership form can be filled out. The application will then be taken to the committee, where the application will be either accepted or rejected.

I have another question that is not on this page. Who do I contact to ask?

We have only an email address at the moment available,  which can be found on the Contact page of this website, or through our Facebook page.  Also you may ask a committee member at any swim night.
